Things you need to do during pool season:
Check your pool’s pH and chlorine levels
You should check them at least twice per week. Your pool water pH should be between 7.4 – 7.6, while chlorine levels should stay between 1.0 – 3.0 ppm. Is better if you check your pH levels and chlorine levels at dusk, at least 4 hours after all swimmers have left the water.
Clean the Pool
Clean your pool at least once per week. If there is debris on the bottom of your pool, you can use a vacuum cleaner. Clean the surface with a cleaning net.
Keep your Filtration System Running
As much as possible. When the water is continuously moving, it is less likely to become tainted with dust, dirt, environmental pollutants, bacteria and body oils.
Shock Your Pool Water
Shocking the pool on a regular basis is an important element in keeping the pool clear and clean. Swimmers and the environment add waste to the pool that must be eliminated on a regular basis in order to prevent problems such as algae and cloudy water.
Things you need to do during off-season:
Inspect Your Pool
Look for cracks, leaks or any type of damage that needs to be addressed. Winter will only make the damage worse. Try to fix these problems before you close the pool.

The cover should secure tightly around the pool with no obvious tears, rips, gaps or damage. Inspect the pool cover every few weeks during the off-season.
